VACANCY FOR A COUNCILLOR
Due to the resignation of Charles Evans there is a vacancy for a Parish Councillor.
If, within 14 days* after the date of this notice, a request for an election to fill the said vacancy is made in writing to the Chief Executive, Electoral Services, Somerset Council, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT by TEN electors for the Parish, an election will be held to fill the said vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by the Parish Council by co-option.
Following the recent budget setting by Somerset Council.
Various recent developments have increased the number of walkers travelling between Castle Cary Railway Station and Alhampton.

Due to the resignation of Councillor Lynne Hughes and the sad sudden death of Councillor Roger James there are two vacancies on the Parish Council.
Somerset Council has launched a ‘call for sites’ which will run for 8 weeks from 20 May 2024. The deadline for submissions is 15 July 2024.

A public consultation on the Council’s budget will launch later this afternoon.
It will offer a chance for people to have their say in light of the financial emergency, which was called in November.
PCC Mark Shelford has launched a survey asking if local people support his proposal to increase the precept – the policing part of the council tax – by at least £10 a year for the average band D household.
